All about our farm
Tannenbaum Farms is a large, full service choose-and-cut
Christmas tree operation located in Mason, Michigan. The farm
produces 6 principal Christmas tree species in a variety of
sizes. In addition to cut-your-own trees, pre-cut trees and a
large selection of wreaths, garland, and related greenery are
available. The farm features adequate parking with a full array
of services, including wagon rides on weekends, easy to use tree
transport carts, free tree cleaning, free tree wrapping, and
free tree drilling if desired. Additionally, a large concession
stand complete with bonfire ring is available. A full-service
heated gift shop featuring a unique collection of gifts and
related Christmas tree decorations is also available. The farm
is open for business beginning the day after Thanksgiving and
continuing through Christmas eve. Business hours are 9 am until
dark on weekends, and from 12:30 pm until dark on week days.
Our farm's history
Tannenbaum Farms began with an initial planting of 3000 trees in
1978. From the initial planting of approximately 3 acres,
plantings have increased to nearly 100 total acres. Each year
about 10,000 trees are planted to maintain the supply necessary
for annual Christmas tree and nursery stock sales. The first
trees were sold in 1983. Significant improvements in facilities
and services for customers have been made over the past several
years. These include an indoor tree display area, tree shakers,
balers, drills, tree carts and wagon rides. The Christmas Shop
was opened in 1998 and has continued to expand. Our most recent
addition has been completion of a new concession stand in 2003
designed to enhance the experience of all visitors who come to
the farm. In the fall of 2004 group hayrides were added to the
services available. Pumpkin sales from pumpkins grown on the
farm were also added in 2004 and will be expanded in the future.
Our farm people
Tannenbaum Farms is a seasonal Christmas tree and related
product business. It is owned by Mel and Laurie Koelling who
oversee all of the work involved with the business. During the
Christmas season several additional individuals are employed,
most of who have worked for the farm for several years. All
employees are aware of the emphasis on customer satisfaction and
the objective of making your visit most enjoyable. Please feel
